Saturday fun.

My friends husband is in the Army, so we got together today to take some pictures to send him for Valentine's Day. These 2 little girls are so much fun and they have the most GORGEOUS eyes! I just have to say again, I L O V E my new lens (when my subject is sitting still). It is so dang sharp!

Alrighty, I need you to all be HONEST!! How are these pictures, sooc and fixed. Give it to me, I can take it! I did a custom white balance (I measured my white backdrop), to try and get better skin tones. How are they? Thanks again for all your help!

And here are a few that we took just for fun. I bought 2 bags of conversation hearts and didn't find one that said I love you, so we had to write one ourselves.

Thanks again for looking! Happy Saturday!

PS- in my blog post, I used my external flash bounced upward and behind me at the top of the wall/corner where the wall & ceiling meet. Thanks for the nice comments on my lighting! It was already dark outside so I had no choice but to use the flash- I'm trying to use it more so I can be more comfortable with it. :)

Absolutely love the third picture - hands forming a heart! They are all wonderful. I don't know how to cc photos, but I do know what I like, and these I like.

That last shot is so cute! Well you actually did a great job on all of them of course, but I love that setup.

These are absolutely beautiful! I'm in love with the same lens! I like your edits. . . it adds very nice contrast. And I really appreciate that you post your settings. . . I'm just learning, particularly about skin tones, so take this all with a grain of salt. I also have an uncalibrated monitor. . . Could you share how you processed your images? I have a Nikon camera. . . and have read that with Nikon, you "try to tame the wild color", whereas with Canon, you sometimes have to boost color. I really like your SOOC skin tones, perhaps with a bit of brightening, and then contast, but using the luminosity mode in the layers. I see a bit of orange/red in your edited versions, and as beautiful as the edited versions are, I'd want to experiment with reducing the orange and red (and using the luminosity mode would help with this.) The only other thing I notice is that with the second set of photos, I would crop out more of the arm at the bottom, or clone it out. These photos are wonderful, though, and I love the clarity of focus in their eyes!
